The Embassy of India in China held an activity to observe World Hindi Day 2025 in Beijing on December 23.
Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Ambassador of India to China gave his opening remarks, extending warm welcome to the guests.
Jiang Jingkui, professor and dean of the Institute for International and Area Studies at Tsinghua University, participated in the event as a guest of honor.
Hindi enthusiasts and students from renowned universities presented vibrant cultural performances to the audience. Their enthusiasm exemplified the growing popularity of Hindi in China.
At the end of the event, the winners of the Hindi poetry, story writing, and speech competitions were awarded with certificates of honor and prizes.
In 1950, Hindi became the official language of the then Union of India.
The Constitution of India provided for the use of Hindi in the Devanagari script as the official language of the Union.
In China's education system, courses for Hindi opened in 1942.
Jiang said that the Hindi students in the 21st century have a promising future.
Students may have career paths, including working in fields of foreign affairs, foreign trade, international business, and Hindi translation.
World Hindi Day falls on January 10 each year.
Students at the event are reported to have gained a deeper understanding of their responsibilities in cultural exchanges. They are inspired to contribute their youthful strength to the communication between the two world civilizations.
