The Chinese Embassy and consulates in Myanmar once again urge Chinese citizens to remain vigilant against telecom and online fraud, improve their ability to recognize scams, and avoid falling victim for so-called "high-paying overseas job offers." Such offers could lead to telecom fraud traps, putting their safety and property at risk, according to the official WeChat account of Chinese Embassy in Myanmar on Friday evening.
The statement revealed that several Chinese citizens have recently sought assistance after being lured by "high-paying overseas job offers" on social media. They were deceived into illegally crossing the border to Myawaddy, Myanmar, where they were coerced into participating in telecom fraud activities.
The Chinese Embassy and consulates in Myanmar remind citizens that if they fall victim to a scam, they should report it to the police immediately and seek assistance from the Chinese diplomatic mission in Myanmar.
