The Russian Cultural Center in Beijing hosted the 2025 Russian Glinka Choir A Cappella (China Tour) Concert on March 13. As part of the China-Russia Years of Culture, the tour in China will reach cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Zhengzhou.
A Cappella, a unique art form, creates harmonious and captivating melodies through layering human voices. Its standards demand not only exceptional vocal technique from the singers, but also a deep level of harmony and understanding between them, something that cannot be achieved overnight.
Tatiana Urzhumtseva, director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, said that she welcomed the arrival and performance of the choir.
Xing Dongmei, chief representative of the China Liaison Office of the World Organization for Promoting Music and Arts Education, said that the China tour of the choir is not merely to showcase the elegance of Russian choral art, but also vividly to reflect the deepening friendship between China and Russia.
"Music can transcend national boundaries and touch the soul. It is expected that the tour will let more Chinese audiences feel the charm of Russian music culture and allow our Russian friends to have a deeper understanding of the profoundness of Chinese culture," said Xing.
