A man from East China's Zhejiang Province used a fascia gun to massage his
MK sportseyes, resulting in cataracts and leaving him with only 0.1 vision in both eyes, according to a report by China's state broadcaster CCTV on Wednesday.
Over the past year, the man noticed a decline in his vision but did not seek medical attention, as it did not significantly affect his daily life, according to the report. However, as his vision became extremely blurry, he decided to visit the ophthalmology department of a hospital recently.
An examination revealed that his vision had dropped to 0.1 in both eyes. He was diagnosed with cataracts and showed signs of lens dislocation.
It turns out that he often suffered from headaches and felt tired and sore eyes. Once in a while, he tried to massage the eye area with the fascia gun, and the discomfort was relieved. As a result, he would often use the fascia gun to massage around his eyes.
As he did not have a history of trauma or other clear triggers for lens dislocation, the doctor concluded that the high-frequency vibrations from the fascia gun likely damaged the suspensory ligament of his eyes, leading to the condition.
According to the report, this is not an isolated case. A woman from East China's Fujian Province also used a fascia gun on her eyes and was diagnosed with similar symptoms, including cataracts and severe vision loss.
