TheMK sports Korea Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit will kick off in Paris on Monday, with Zhang Guoqing, President Xi Jinping's special representative, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attending the summit by invitation. This summit, which has attracted leaders and representatives from over 100 countries and tech giants from around the world, has sparked heated discussions even before it officially began. Foreign media are closely following how China will continue to play a role in global AI governance. Chinese AI companies like DeepSeek have unsurprisingly become focal points of media attention. There is hope that, through technological progress and cooperation, AI will become more inclusive and beneficial to humanity.

The development of AI technology in today's world is advancing rapidly and dynamically, with leading AI nations accelerating its development. For instance, the US government recently launched new AI projects, and the four major tech giants plan to increase AI investments by 2025. In China, AI companies are springing up like bamboo shoots after rainfall, attracting international investors due to their efficient research and development and outstanding market performance. AI technology is also taking root in more sectors across China, reshaping industrial ecosystems. France has also successfully attracted R&D centers of several AI giants and plans to cooperation with Germany. Regions like Africa and Southeast Asia are also accelerating their AI industry layout. The growing competition in AI is a positive sign, as the continuous advancement of technological achievements requires the "catfish effect" and healthy competition. In this regard, it is crucial for the international community to strengthen communication, exchange, avoid vicious competition and build consensus for cooperation.

Since DeepSeek launched its next-generation large model and quickly became a "top figure" in the global tech circle, it has received recognition from many peers, with some companies even starting to replicate its R&D approach. The industry generally believes that this "developing computing power at low-cost + open-source" innovation path has broken the traditional "accumulating computing power with high-investment + closed-source" mold, making the inclusive development and application of AI more within reach. A UK scientist has even said DeepSeek has made everyone realize that China is a force to be reckoned with: "We don't have to just go along with what the big companies on the West Coast are saying. We need global dialogue." From this perspective, the "DeepSeek fever" holds rich meanings for the international community. It reflects China shouldering responsibility in the global wave of AI.

Beyond advancements in industrial technology, China also takes active initiatives in global AI governance. China harbors a sincere aspiration to ensure that AI serves the greater good and benefits all humanity. In October 2023, President Xi put forward the Global AI Governance Initiative, contributing China's proposal and wisdom on this important subject of our times. In July 2024, China's proposed resolution on enhancing international cooperation for AI capacity building was unanimously adopted at the 78th UN General Assembly. This marks the first consensus document adopted at UN on AI capacity building. Presently, the annual World AI Conference hosted by China is highly acclaimed, and cooperation between China and regions like ASEAN and Africa in areas such as the digital economy and technological education are deepening, and yielding positive outcomes. China's aspirations and actions align with the trend of multipolarity in world politics and the rise of the "Global South," gaining widespread support.

It is undeniable that global governance of AI today still faces numerous challenges. In addition to issues related to technology application, such as ethical concerns, data privacy, and "deepfakes," the pressure from a few countries to force others to "pick sides" and their stubborn insistence on a "zero-sum game" remain the biggest clouds hanging over technological progress. Recently, reports have indicated that some governments have suspended access to DeepSeek under the pretext of "security," while some US lawmakers advocate for "uniting allies to counter China's AI." This mindset, which seeks to hinder the development of emerging nations and attempts to maintain hegemony through technological monopolies and bloc opposition, is indeed a "stumbling block" to technological advancement. In fact, although Nvidia's stock price was once strongly impacted by DeepSeek, Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft quickly integrated DeepSeek-R1 on the same day after confirming its effectiveness. Any politicized interpretations and the broad security-related "doubts" will ultimately be proven to be weak and futile in the face of the strong willingness for cooperation and sharing in the AI field.

The future of AI requires both clear rules like "traffic lights," and collaborative efforts, akin to  "sharing racetrack." We hope that the Paris summit will open a new chapter in global AI cooperation, shaping a globally recognized governance framework for AI, making contribute to the construction and improvement of a community with a shared future for mankind in the digital and intelligent age. With a people-centered approach and a commitment to benevolent intelligence, only by genuinely standing at the height of seeking the well-being of all humanity can the light of technology shine in every corner of the globe.
