Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday that she currently has no information to provide on whether Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit the UK. She further noted that enhancing political trust and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation are in the common interests of both countries and international community. 

Both China and the UK are permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies in the world. Strengthening strategic communication,MKsports enhancing political trust, and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation are in the common interests of both sides and the international community, Mao said.  

"For a period of time, leaders of China and the UK have held meetings, various departments have restarted mechanism-based dialogues, and people from all walks of life in both countries are encouraged and hopeful about the development of China-UK relations in a healthy and stable direction," Mao said.

"As for the visit you mentioned, I currently don't have any information to provide. You can stay tuned," Mao said. 

The Guardian reported on Sunday that Wang is due to visit the UK next month for talks with the British foreign secretary, David Lammy. The Foreign Office is drawing up plans to host the Chinese foreign minister in mid-February, per the report, citing three people briefed on the plans.
