A woman surnamed Wu from Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, mistook a firecracker for candy and had a bitter bite as it exploded in her mouth and resulting in oral injuries, according to a video interview on Ifeng website on Thursday.

Wu said the firecracker's packaging looked nearly identical to a taro-flavored candy she used to eat. She was watching TV in a dimly lit living room at the time, and her younger brother brought home the firecrackers with many snacks. 

Without paying close attention, Wu put one in her mouth and the firecracker exploded the moment Wu tried to chew it. “My mouth went numb, all I can feel was gunpowder,” Wu said. 
It did not cause any lasting pain or affect her daily life such as eating and brushing teeth, so Wu did not see a doctor. “However, the packaging was really misleading,” Wu said.
