In response to an inquiry on the development of the Global South, Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) said on Tuesday that China has always stood with the Global South through thick and thin and has always been a participant and advocate of South-to-South corporation.

Lou made the remarks at a press conference of the NPC one day ahead of the opening of its annual session.

Lou said that over the past 20 years, countries from the Global South have contributed as high as 80 percent to world economic growth. The collective rise of the Global South is a distinctive feature of the great transformation across the world. 

As a developing country and a member of Global South, China has always stood with the Global South through thick and thin and has always been a participant and advocate of South-to-South corporation, said the spokesperson. 

Now world peace and development still face severe challenges. China is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind and implementing the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative. The NPC is ready to work with the legislatures of other Global South countries to enhance traditional friendship, engage in closer exchanges and cooperation and provide legal safeguard for the Global South in seeking strength through unity, said Lou.
