Khalil Hashmi, Pakistani Ambassador to China, visited Tsinghua University and participated in the opening ceremony of "the Light of Integration," an art exhibition hosted at the university in Beijing on March 1. 

In his remarks, the ambassador affirmed Tsinghua University's efforts in fostering cultural exchanges, and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the contributions of renowned Pakistani artist Syed Jamal Shah.

The exhibition is not only an artistic endeavor but also a testament to enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, which has extended beyond politics and economy into the realm of culture, creativity and shared values, said the ambassador. 

Featuring two sections - an ancient segment that explores Gandhara art from Pakistan and China by digital means, and a contemporary segment that showcases more than 120 artworks by leading artists from both countries, the exhibition highlights the deep cultural ties and shared artistic expressions between Pakistan and China. 

The ambassador also said Pakistan and China have a long history together, including the ancient Gandhara civilization and the artistic mastery of the Indus and the Yangtze cultures. 

By blending ancient heritage with contemporary creativity, this exhibition highlighted the timeless bonds between the two peoples, he said. 

On the sidelines, the ambassador met Ma Sai, dean of Academy of Arts and Design, discussing approaches to strengthen cultural and educational collaboration. 

Both sides agreed to explore long-term partnerships in art and design, reaffirming their commitment to further deepening cultural ties.
