The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines is making every effort in response to the kidnapping and killing of a Chinese citizen in the country. In a statement released on Friday, the embassy expressed deep condolences and strongly condemned the perpetrators.
A Chinese citizen was recently kidnapped in the Philippines. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines attached great importance to the case, with Ambassador Huang Xilian immediately initiating emergency measures. Relevant departments made every effort to carry out the rescue operation, guided and assisted the victim's family in reporting the case simultaneously to both Philippine police and Chinese public security authorities, and urged Philippine law enforcement to fully investigate and rescue the hostages safely.
Unfortunately, both the Chinese citizen and his Filipino driver were killed. The embassy expressed deep condolences to the victims, extended sincere sympathies to their families, and strongly condemned the perpetrators, the statement said.
According to local Philippine media, the Philippine News Agency, a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed to expedite the investigation into the deaths of a Chinese entrepreneur and his driver, whose remains were discovered in Rizal province on Wednesday. In a press conference in Camp Crame on Thursday, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson and Central Luzon police chief Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the task force would look into the circumstances that would identify those involved in the abduction and killing of Congyuan Guo, also known as Anson Tan/Anson Que, and his driver Armanie Pabillo.
Upon learning of the victim's death, the leadership of the Chinese Embassy immediately lodged a solemn representation with relevant Philippine authorities, urging the Philippine side to mobilize all necessary resources and efforts to swiftly solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
In response to the recent rise in serious crimes such as kidnappings targeting Chinese citizens, the embassy has listened closely to the concerns of the Chinese community in the Philippines, engaged in discussions with major Chinese communities in Philippine, and taken concrete measures to protect the safety and lawful rights and interests of Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese in the country.
The Chinese government has always attached great importance to safeguarding the safety and lawful rights of its citizens abroad and will never tolerate crimes that harm Chinese nationals, the statement said.
Over the years, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has actively promoted law enforcement cooperation between China and the Philippines, cracking down on crimes targeting Chinese citizens. It has also closely monitored local security conditions, promptly issued safety advisories, organized preventive awareness seminars, and worked to enhance the safety awareness and self-protection capabilities of the Chinese community in the Philippines.
The statement also said that the embassy will continue to urge the Philippine side to intensify its efforts to solve the case, punish the perpetrators to the full extent of the law, enforce laws strictly, and improve public security to restore peace and stability to the Chinese community.
The embassy once again reminds Chinese citizens currently in the Philippines or planning to travel there to remain highly vigilant and strengthen their personal safety precautions. In case of emergency, please report to the local police and contact the Chinese Embassy or consulates in the Philippines for assistance, said the statement.
