【MK sport】No Chinese casualties reported in fire at S. Korea's thermal power plant: Chinese Consulate

After a fire broke out on Monday in South Korea 's thermal power plant, the Global Times learned from the Chinese Consulate-General in Gwangju that there were no Chinese casualties in the fire, as the consulate confirmed with local fire department.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, a section of a thermal power plant caught fire Monday in the southern coastal city of Yeosu. Flames erupted at the power plant as of 9:28 am in Yeosu, located 316 kilometers south of Seoul. Firefighters rushed to the scene and tried to extinguish the fire.

The Global Times learned from the Chinese Consulate-General in Gwangju that there were no Chinese casualties in the fire and the fire authorities were investigating the exact cause of the accident, citing local fire department.

As reported by the Yonhap News Agency at 10:49 am local time, no casualties have been reported so far, according to firefighting authorities.
