Responding to the announcement by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding further tightening of export controls on certain items of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and software,MK sports a spokesperson of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Wednesday that China has noted the announcement and expressed serious concerns to the Netherlands.

The semiconductor industry is highly globalized, and some countries have recently been expanding the concept of national security and abusing export controls, seriously threatening the stability of global semiconductor supply chains, and China firmly opposes this, the spokesperson said.

According to a statement released on the official website of the Government of the Netherlands on Wednesday, it said that, on April 1, 2025, the Netherlands will modify its national export control measure for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. 

China hopes that the Netherlands, as a member of the World Trade Organization, will uphold international trade rules and the overall interests of China-Netherlands economic and trade cooperation, the MOFCOM spokesperson said, urging the Netherlands to respect market principles and the spirit of contracts, effectively safeguard the legitimate rights of enterprises, including those from both countries, and maintain the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain.
