China's rail-sea intermodal trains operating through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, located in China's western hinterland, have transported 805,400 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods so far this year, up 5.3 percent year-on-year, providing a solid foundation for the stability of regional industrial chains and high-quality development of the western regions, CCTV reported on Wednesday, citing data from China Railway Nanning Group.
Cargo trains operating through the corridor this year have imported international commodities such as minerals from Australia and rubber from Southeast Asian countries, while exporting agricultural products and foods from Northwest China's Gansu Province, Southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region and South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, along with China-made auto parts and other products.
During the current quarter, China Railway Nanning Group has offered tailored logistics solutions that include loading, transportation, information services and empty container returning services.
The solutions attracted more cargo sources including soybeans from Brazil and coal from Indonesia, enabling the trains to complete the transportation of 100,000 TEUs in just 27 days, which was 13 fewer days than it took to transport the previous 100,000 TEUs.
During the current quarter, these freight trains have carried a daily average of 3,205 TEUs, up 36.8 percent from the first three quarters, the report noted.
As of Wednesday, the rail-sea intermodal trains running along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor carry 1,163 cargo categories. The routes can cover 156 stations in 73 Chinese cities, while reaching 542 ports in 125 countries and regions.
On November 15, the 100,000th China-Europe freight train departed from Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, a significant milestone in the development of the service that facilitates economic and trade exchanges between China and Europe.
Fully loaded with various goods such as electronic products, and household appliances, the train is expected to arrive in Duisburg, Germany, in just over 10 days, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
