Jakub Kumoch, Polish Ambassador to China, visited Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on December 2, meeting officials in the city to explore cooperation opportunities in various fields.
Ambassador Kumoch met with Vice Mayor Shang Kui of Chongqing. The two parties discussed future cooperation in business, education, and culture.
On the same day, Ambassador Kumoch held talks with leaders in charge of Chongqing Railway Port. Chongqing is an important freight hub connecting China with Poland.
The Yuxin'ou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) railway, which is the first China-Europe freight train route, launched operations in March 2011.
During his trip in Chongqing, the ambassador also met the teachers and students majoring in Polish at Sichuan International Studies University. Acknowledging the students' Polish proficiency, the ambassador, who has been studying Chinese, noted that there are huge differences between the Polish and Chinese languages. He encouraged them to increase their efforts for the promotion of Poland-China exchanges in the future.
