Huawei's new foldable phone Mate X6 kicked off selling at 10:08 am on Friday,
MKS sports sparking a wave of consumer excitement, with the smartphones immediately selling out on its official Huawei mall.
Over 1.16 million consumers have booked the smartphone by November 26, domestic news site nbd.com.cn reported on Friday.
A salesperson at a Huawei flagship store in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, told the Global Times on Friday Huawei Mate X6 has sold out at the store, and consumers can book a reservation.
In the first three quarters of 2024, the global smartphone market grew by 5 percent year-on-year and rebounded for four consecutive quarters on a yearly basis, according to data from Canalys, reported China Digital Times, a media outlet affiliated with China News Service.
Global smartphone shipments are expected to reach 1.22 billion units this year, which is up 6 percent year-on-year. As for the Chinese mainland market, Apple ranked first during the period with a 52 percent market share, but down 5 percent compared with last year, the Canalys data showed.
Huawei ranked second with its market share reaching 33 percent, surging by 34 percent on a yearly basis. The ranking was followed by HONOR, Xiaomi, and Samsung, according to the report.
