The upcoming 14th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) will conduct the second review of the draft of China's private economy promotion law, the spokesperson's office of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee said recently when responding to media inquiries regarding the review on the draft law, the People's Daily reported on Friday.

The commission will further solicit opinions from various stakeholders to refine the draft after the second review in accordance with the legislative law, ensuring its prompt deliberation and enactment.

In December 2024, the draft was submitted by the State Council to the 13th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th NPC for its initial review. The Legislative Affairs Commission solicited public feedback following the initial review, and received 574 suggestions from 249 individuals and 30 written submissions.

NPC deputies participated in the legislative process, contributing 87 recommendations from 22 representatives. Stakeholders expressed strong approval for the draft and urged its refinement and expedited adoption, according to the report from the People's Daily.

The NPC Constitution and Law Committee, along with the Legislative Affairs Commission, has revised the draft based on feedback from NPC Standing Committee members and public consultations. On Monday, the 38th meeting of the Council of Chairpersons of the 14th NPC Standing Committee proposed including the draft in the agenda for the 14th session, scheduled from February 24 to 25.
