China firmly opposes US' restriction on Chinese internet-connected vehicle hardware and software and complete vehicles for use in the US citing so-called "national security" as the reason,
MK sports Korea said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Wednesday.
The remarks were made in response to a media question regarding reports saying the US is finalizing rules to target automotive technology from China and Russia. Reports indicate that this effectively bans new personal smart cars with Chinese and Russian technology from US market.
Guo stated that the practice is completely groundless, interferes with economic and commercial cooperation among enterprises, violates the principles of a market economy and fair competition, and is typical protectionism and economic coercion.
The Chinese side urges the US side to stop the wrongdoing of overstretching national security and to cease the unreasonable suppression of Chinese enterprises, Guo further noted, adding that China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
Biden administration said on Tuesday that it will prohibit the sale and import of connected vehicle hardware and software systems, as well as completed connected vehicles, from China and Russia, to safeguard America from "national security risks."
