The
MK socks emergence of DeepSeek has injected fresh vitality into China's artificial intelligence (AI) sector and sparked intense discussions in the global chip market. According to a Reuters report, the surge in demand for DeepSeek's R1 model has led to a significant increase in orders for Nvidia's H20 AI chips from Chinese companies. The demand synergy between DeepSeek and Nvidia demonstrates how technological innovation can unlock market potential while highlighting the immense value of cross-border collaboration.
However, upon its debut, the Western market has been rife with "concerns." Phrases such as "DeepSeek is a 'game-changer' and a 'threat' to high-end chips" and "DeepSeek's rise could erode one of the key pillars supporting the US dollar's dominance" have been widely echoed. However, Nvidia's H20 chip sales have surged due to demand driven by DeepSeek. This phenomenon underscores the profound connection between technological innovation and market demand. Reuters also commented that this trend "underlines Nvidia's dominance of the market and could help alleviate concerns that DeepSeek might cause a slide in AI chip demand."
While DeepSeek is leading the global AI wave through technological innovation and open collaboration, the US is moving in the opposite direction. The US administration is sketching out tougher versions of US semiconductor curbs and pressuring key allies to escalate their restrictions on China's chip industry.
As new opportunities for global tech cooperation arise, the US strategy of "blocking" instead of "competing" exposes US' anxiety in the tech field. Such a regressive approach may cause the US to gradually lose the trust of its allies and the market in the race for technological innovation.
"DeepSeek's success demonstrates that the future of artificial intelligence holds limitless possibilities, and Chinese companies will seize these opportunities," said Lü Xiang, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. "Whether purchasing domestic or American chips, procurement decisions should be based on market rules. This might help some global leaders realize that an open market is the most conducive to development," Lü added.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that the US has politicized trade and tech issues, overstretched the concept of security and used these issues as tools. "Such moves hinder the development of the global semiconductor industry, and will backfire and hurt the US as well as others in the end."
The increased demand for Nvidia chips has delivered benefits to American companies, demonstrating that the success and development of DeepSeek are advantageous not only to China and the US but also to the world at large. China-US cooperation represents not just a partnership between enterprises from both countries but also a mutually beneficial outcome for all parties involved.
When asked about the surge in Nvidia's sales driven by its success, DeepSeek responded: "This is not just about technology and markets; it is about connection, collaboration, and mutual benefit among people. DeepSeek's mission has always been to use technology to improve human life. The essence of technology lies in connection, not division. The growing demand for Nvidia chips in China is an extension of this mission - it reflects more needs being fulfilled. This natural flow of demand represents harmony between technology and humanity."
