Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met the new ambassador of Vietnam to China, Pham Thanh Binh in Beijing on February 10. Sun said that since 2024, the building of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future has gotten off to a good start. 

High-level exchanges between the two parties and two countries have been close, the six overall goals of "greater political mutual trust, more solid security cooperation, deeper mutually beneficial cooperation, stronger popular support, closer multilateral coordination and better handling of differences" have been smoothly implemented, and many highlights have emerged in cooperation in various fields, Sun noted.

The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. 

Sun also said that China is ready to work closely with Vietnam to follow the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two parties, strengthen strategic communication, intensify exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and ensure the success of a series of 75th anniversary celebrations commemorating the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations as well as the Year of People-to-people Exchanges.

Pham said that under the strategic guidance of the top level of the two parties and countries, Vietnam-China relations have maintained a sound momentum of development, and developing relations with China has always been the top priority and strategic choice of Vietnam's foreign policy. 

Pham said that as the new ambassador of Vietnam to China, he is keenly aware of his glorious mission and great responsibility. 

Meanwhile, the ambassador expressed his willingness to work with the Chinese side to earnestly implement the high-level common understandings reached between the two parties and countries, and make positive contributions to building a Vietnam-China community of shared future that carries strategic significance.
