The Embassy of Colombia in China hosted a reception to celebrate bilateral friendship and commemorate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Colombia and China in Beijing on February 7. 

The event welcomed about 90 distinguished guests including the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi, ambassadors, envoys, and staff members of diplomatic missions as well as delegates from enterprises. 

Qiu said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago, the relationship between China and Colombia has made continuous progress and yielded fruitful results. 

In particular, in October 2023, the two countries established a strategic partnership, marking a new era in China-Colombia relations. China is ready to work with Colombia to deliver on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, continuously enrich the China-Colombia strategic partnership, and jointly create an even better future for China-Colombia relations, Qiu noted. 

Sergio Cabrera Cárdenas, the Colombian Ambassador to China reviewed the achievements in the development of Colombia-China relations, and reiterated that the Colombian side firmly abides by the one-China principle and is ready to work with the Chinese side to further strengthen high-level exchanges between both countries, expand friendly cooperation, and elevate China-Colombia relations. 

The ambassador also highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in different areas such as politics, trade, and education. 

Ambassador Cárdenas also stressed the country's commitment to mutual cooperation and cultural exchange with China.
