Chinese tech firm Beijing Zhipu Huazhang Technology said on Wednesday night that it strongly opposes the US Commerce Department's unsubstantiated decision to add the company and its subsidiaries to the Entity List for export control.

TheMK sports US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) on Wednesday added Beijing Zhipu Huazhang Technology to the entity list, claiming it was added to the list for developing AI used in advancing Chinese military forces, Wall Street Journal reported.   

Zhipu said the decision lacked factual basis, according to a statement on the company's WeChat account. 

It added that the US' move will not materially affect its business, emphasizing its commitment to participating in global AI competition and advancing AI development while adhering to the highest safety standards and principles of fairness, transparency, and sustainability, the statement said.
