Children's sailing competitions will be held as part of the Igor Chentsov Regatta,MKS sports named after the Chairman of the Presidium and First Vice President of the Russian Yachting Federation. The event is included in the program of the Sport Games of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
On June 1, International Children's Day, young yachtsmen from 7 to 13 years old will take part in team relay races on the water on Optimist dinghies and SUP boards. There will also be a competition program on the shore, as well as meetings with the leaders of the Russian national sailing team and foreign yachtsmen who will take part in the first stage of the Tenzor International Cup 2024.
"Strengthening the power of traditions and maintaining the connection between generations is one of the main goals of the Igor Chentsov Regatta and the entire series dedicated to the memory of outstanding individuals in sailing sports. It is important to involve children in such competitions, giving them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our sport through direct interaction with star yachtsmen. This is an important mission of the Tenzor Cup Junior project," noted Sergey Dzhiyenbayev, president of the Russian Yachting Federation.
The Igor Chentsov Regatta will be attended by athletes from Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Germany. The competition will be held from May 30 to June 2 at the Tenzor Sailing Club in Moscow Region.
The first stage of the project is supported by the Russian Yachting Federation, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Centre for Sports Training of the Russian National Teams.
