In a strategic push to enhance its emerging industries,MK sports Korea South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is setting its sights on burgeoning sectors including Artificial Intelligence+, electronic information and biopharmaceuticals.

According to a report on Sunday by chinanews.com, a news site under the China News Agency, Guangxi is holding investment promotion activities across China's leading economic zones, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the Yangtze River Delta region, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. This move reflects Guangxi's proactive stance in promoting innovation-led development, facilitating industrial modernization and fostering economic collaboration across regions.

The GBA is recognized as one of China's most open and economically dynamic areas, distinguished by its rapid development in emerging industries. In recent years, Guangxi has seized the opportunities presented by the development of the GBA, driving comprehensive, multi-faceted and deep-seated cooperation to position itself as an important strategic hinterland for the GBA. Through a variety of measures, including the continuous advancement of transportation projects that connect with the GBA and the ongoing logistics network optimization, Guangxi has facilitated the flow of resources, technology transfers, and industrial collaboration between itself and the GBA. Similar measures have injected momentum into the development of Guangxi's emerging industries.

Emerging industries in Guangxi are experiencing rapid development. Taking Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, as an example, there has been a sustained effort to foster the growth of new quality productive forces. Industries such as advanced aluminum processing, semiconductors and satellite remote sensing are undergoing accelerated industry agglomeration and expansion, the Economic Daily reported on Thursday.

Bridging China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) both by land and sea, Guangxi stands as the forefront and gateway for China's engagement and collaboration with ASEAN. In recent years, Guangxi has been intensifying its cooperation with ASEAN. This has boosted the collaborative utilization of resources, technology and talent between China and ASEAN, propelling the advancement of regional supply chains. In this context, the rapid advancement of emerging industries in Guangxi could be instrumental in energizing and consolidating China-ASEAN cooperation in these cutting-edge sectors.

In July 2023, China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong said that China and ASEAN possess strong complementarities in emerging industries, with a keen mutual interest in enterprise-level exchanges and cooperation. In recent years, both sides have advanced a number of high-level projects in areas such as the digital economy, photovoltaics and new energy vehicles, showcasing broad development prospects, according to news site people.cn.

In the realm of emerging industries, economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN is deepening. In October 2024, China and ASEAN announced the substantial conclusion of Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA) upgrade negotiations.

This upgraded version covers both traditional sectors and emerging fields where both sides see significant potential for collaboration, including the digital economy, the green economy and supply chain interconnectivity, according to the Xinhua News Agency. This move will strengthen the institutional frameworks for China and ASEAN to enhance cooperation in those areas.

The construction of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area was completed in 2010, and Version 3.0 China-ASEAN FTA negotiations began in November 2022, the Xinhua News Agency said. The cooperation between China and ASEAN is continuously being upgraded, incorporating new elements into industrial cooperation, especially in emerging industries. Against this backdrop, the rapid development of emerging industries in Guangxi, along with its ongoing acceptance of high-tech industry transfers from the GBA, is expected to inject more vitality into industrial cooperation between China and ASEAN.
