In response to question regarding US government's imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese goods exported to the US,
mk Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday that the US side insisted on using the fentanyl issue as a pretext to impose additional tariffs on Chinese products exported to the US twice. China had already expressed its opposition multiple times.
Mao emphasized that the countermeasures China has taken are justified and necessary action to safeguard its rights and interests. "I can tell you that if the US insists on harming China's interests, China will definitely take resolute countermeasures. If the US truly wants to resolve the issues, it should address each other's concerns with China through consultations on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit," Mao said.
