In response to a question about whether Lu Shaye,MK sport former Chinese Ambassador to France, has been appointed as the Chinese government's Special Representative for European Affairs, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed it on Thursday, saying that the Chinese government has appointed Lu to succeed Wu Hongbo.
 
In this role, Lu will assist in coordinating and handling European-related affairs and engage in consultations and exchanges with European countries and EU institutions as needed, Guo said.
 
Guo stated that Lu is a senior diplomat with extensive knowledge of European affairs, expressing confidence that Lu will actively fulfill his duties, facilitating communication and coordination with European counterparts in accordance with the Chinese government's directives and needs.
 
Guo added that Lu is expected to contribute to fostering dialogue and cooperation, promoting the stable and healthy development of China-Europe relations.
