US move is mka typical act of economic coercion and hegemonic bullying, and China is strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed to this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday, in response to a question over the US' strengthened restrictions on advanced computing semiconductors, enhancing foundry due diligence to prevent diversion to China.

The United States strengthened restrictions on advanced computing semiconductors on Wednesday to prevent the diversion to China of high-end chips, the US Commerce Department said, according to Reuters.

Regarding Biden administration's intensive imposition of trade and technology restrictions against China, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has made its position clear and the Chinese side has lodged stern representations with the US side, Guo said.

The US side has overstretched the concept of national security to politicize, weaponize, and instrumentalize economic and technological issues, frequently wielding stick of sanctions. This has severely infringed upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese and other countries' enterprises, severely undermined market principles and the international trade order, seriously disrupted global supply chain stability, and damaged the common interests of global enterprises, including those in the US, according to the spokesperson.

"No sanctions or suppression will hinder China's development and progress. No bullying or coercion will weaken China's resolve to achieve self-reliance," Guo emphasized, noting that China would take resolute measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and individuals, as well as safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
