China's investigations into certain pork and dairy products from the EU are being conducted in accordance with relevant laws and WTO regulations, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Thursday.

He Yadong, a spokesperson for the MOFCOM, made the remarks in response to a media inquiry about China-EU negotiations concerning electric vehicles (EVs), pork, and dairy products.

China's anti-dumping probes into certain pork, pig by-products from the EU and the anti-subsidy probe into dairy products from the EU are underway. China will conduct the investigations in an open and transparent manner in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of the WTO, and fully protect the rights of all stakeholders, He said.

Regarding the trade disputes in the EV sector, a media inquiry was raised regarding potential further agreements following recent talks between senior MOFCOM officials and the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, and the prospects of resuming the China-EU Comprehensive Investment Agreement.

The spokesman noted that the video call between Ola Källenius, president of ACEA and chairman of Mercedes-Benz, and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao on February 14, 2025, reaffirmed the European automotive industry's support for resolving differences through dialogue and consultation as soon as possible.

The Chinese side has made its utmost efforts to advance dialogue and consultations, He said. It is hoped that the European side will listen to the voices of the industry, take practical actions to meet China halfway, take into account each other's reasonable concerns with the principles of pragmatism and balance and work together to promote fruitful consultations.

China and Europe are important economic and trade partners to each other, with their economic and trade cooperation being mutually complementary and beneficial, resulting in a strong symbiotic economic relationship, He said.

As the year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations, China is prepared to collaborate with Europe in implementing key consensus reached by both leaders, enhance mutual openness, strengthen cooperation in green industries such as EVs, address economic and trade frictions through dialogue and consultation, and advance bilateral investment cooperation, said He.
