TheMK sports total box office for the 2025 Spring Festival (including presales) surpassed 7.5 billion yuan ($1.04 billion) by 9:13 am on Monday, according to the Chinese ticketing platform Maoyan. Total sales for "Ne Zha 2," which tops the box office chart, exceeded 3.45 billion yuan and attracted over 67 million viewers.

According to data from online platforms, the box office for the fifth day – Sunday – of the Chinese New Year in 2025 exceeded 1 billion yuan in a single day, marking the fifth consecutive day of box office revenue surpassing 1 billion yuan during the Spring Festival period.

This year’s Spring Festival box office is on track to become the highest-grossing Spring Festival film season in history, surpassing the record high of 8.01 billion yuan achieved in 2024, according to film analysts and industry experts. They argued that the figures not only demonstrate the audience's heightened enthusiasm for watching movies during the Spring Festival holidays, but also mark a strong recovery of the Chinese film market.
