【MK sport】State Grid Henan Steps Up Electrical Safety Inspections at Universities
Since the start of the summer holiday,MK sport the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company has intensified its electrical safety inspections at universities and vocational schools across the province. Their proactive efforts are focused on ensuring that these institutions have secure and reliable power supplies.

"Every inspection detail matters because universities and vocational schools have a large student population and high daily electricity usage," remarked an employee from the State Grid Zhengzhou Electric Power Supply Company during his work on Zhengzhou campus of Henan University on August 7. The employee and his team were there to conduct a thorough inspection of potential electrical hazards, with their proactive jobs including providing guidance on the proper use of electrical equipment, addressing risks associated with aging or overheating devices, and ensuring the electrical safety of the campus.

Since July, the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company has taken advantage of the summer break to elevate electrical safety standards across universities and vocational schools in the province and to establish a standardized and regulated electrical safety management mechanism. The company has actively engaged with the province's department of education, energy bureau, energy regulatory office, and department of emergency management to carry out safety inspections and rectifications. This collaborative effort is focused on enhancing the safety and reliability of electrical services for the province's 174 universities and 434 vocational schools, ensuring that these institutions are well-prepared for the upcoming academic year with secure and dependable power supplies.

During the inspection, the State Grid Henan ramped up its electrical safety inspections at these institutions by deploying dedicated teams to conduct thorough checks on public power distribution stations, individual-building power distribution rooms, as well as some of the key energy-use rooms. The inspections focused on critical aspects, including the configurations of power supplies and self-prepared backup emergency systems, the operation methods of devices for protection and spare power automatic-switching, the management of critical and sensitive loads, and the execution of regular testing protocols. The company also worked closely with its users to enforce the Code for Electrical Design of Education Buildings, in order to optimize the power supply systems, put in place spare power automatic-switching devices, enhance the configurations of low-voltage trip units, and address issues with aging or overheating equipment.

To date, the State Grid Henan has inspected 186 institutions, identifying 180 electrical safety hazards. Of these, 85 have already been rectified. The company aims to complete the full inspection and rectification of all hazards by August 20. Additionally, it will establish a detailed risk management ledger to ensure sustained electrical safety across these institutions.
