When asked by the media about the Lai Ching-te administration's ban on exchanges with several mainland universities on the list of prohibited exchanges and cooperation, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said that the Lai Ching-te administration has ignored the mainstream public opinion on the island of Taiwan that has been calling for peace, development, exchange and cooperation since May 2024.

This move demonstrates that the Lai Ching-te administration is a stumbling block to cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation, as well as a disruptor of peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits, according to Chen.

Chen stated that Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities are deliberately obstructing cross-Straits personnel exchanges and tourism cooperation, refusing to lift the "ban on group tours," raising the travel warning for Taiwan residents visiting the mainland to a Level-Orange alert and hindering the full restoration of direct passenger flights between the two sides. They also fabricate various excuses to resist and delay group tours for residents of Fujian and Shanghai to Taiwan.

The DPP authorities have demanded that relevant departments completely ban the use of DeepSeek and prohibit public schools from purchasing and using mainland telecommunications products, including both hardware and software. They have unjustly placed hundreds of organizations, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Confucius Institutes, on a "restricted list," obstructing Taiwan professionals from participating in the development of mainland technology and cultural undertakings.

"All of the above are just a few examples, the DPP has escalated its actions and come up with various tricks," Chen noted.

Chen said those who engage in wrongdoing will ultimately bring about their own downfall.

"We warn the Lai Ching-te administration that the desire of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to come closer and strengthen ties cannot be suppressed, and the trend of exchange and cooperation cannot be obstructed," he said. If they continue to act recklessly and go against the tide, they will inevitably suffer the consequences and pay a heavy price.
