When asked to comment on the arrest of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol,MK sports Guo Jiakun, Chinese FM spokesperson said he won't comment on the internal affairs of South Korea. China and South Korea are important neighbors and cooperative partners. China is willing to work with South Korea to jointly promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations, said Guo.

A joint investigation unit, composed of South Korea's Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), the National Office of Investigation (NOI), and the defense ministry's investigative headquarters, said in a short notice that Yoon was arrested at 10:33 am local time, according to the Xinhua News Agency. 

Yoon became the first incumbent president to be arrested in the country's modern history, Xinhua reported.

Yoon is accused of sending troops to the National Assembly after declaring martial law on the night of December 3 to stop lawmakers from voting down the decree, according to Yonhap.
