Respiratory infectious disease prevalence across China has decreased,MKsports and the proportion of influenza-like cases has decreased. Positivity rates for pathogens like mycoplasma pneumoniae are steadily decreasing, and other respiratory diseases, including COVID-19, remain at low prevalence levels, Mi Feng, a spokesperson for the National Health Commission (NHC), told a press conference on Sunday.

All current respiratory infectious diseases are linked to known pathogens, and there are no new infectious diseases in China, said Mi.

Residents are encouraged to practice good personal hygiene, including frequent handwashing, during the Spring Festival, with increased visits to relatives and friends, as well as gatherings and meals, while enjoying family reunions.

According to historical monitoring data, the influenza prevalence period in China occurs from November to February or March of the following year during the winter and spring seasons. Currently it is still in the seasonal epidemic period, Chen Cao, a researcher at the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC, said at the press conference. Disease control authorities will maintain close monitoring, said Chen.

Getting vaccinated against the flu remains crucial. Timely vaccination can provide effective protection against infection and reduce the risk of severe illness and complications, especially for high-risk groups such as the elderly, children, and patients with chronic diseases, said Chen.
